Biological crop protection

Making crops safer from aflatoxin.

We are developing a biological technology designed to prevent aflatoxin formation in crops. Aflatoxin is a toxic compound produced by the fungus Aspergillus flavus, threatening food safety, agricultural value chains and harvests worldwide. Our research and technology development are carried out in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

The Challenge

A growing threat to food safety and agricultural value.

Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring toxin produced by certain fungi, including Aspergillus flavus. It can contaminate crops before harvest and create substantial challenges for farmers, food producers and global supply chains.

Food safety

Aflatoxin contamination can make crops unsuitable for food and feed use.

Economic losses

Contaminated harvests can lead to lower crop value, rejected shipments and lost revenue.

Climate pressure

Warmer and more variable conditions may increase aflatoxin risk in both existing and new agricultural regions.

Our Technology

A biological approach to preventing aflatoxin.

Our technology is being developed to intervene before aflatoxin becomes a problem. By using a biological approach, we aim to help reduce the risk of contamination at crop level while supporting the transition toward more sustainable crop-protection solutions.

    Biological intervention targets aflatoxin formation

  3. 03

Safer crops and more resilient food supply chains

Our technology is currently under development and is being validated through research and partner dialogue.

Why now?

The need for new solutions is accelerating.

Rising temperatures may increase aflatoxin risk.

Food and feed value chains face high safety and compliance requirements.

Contaminated crops can create costly supply-chain disruption.

Demand is growing for sustainable biological crop-protection technologies.
